ICA Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Paediatrics
The Paediatric Diplomate Programme
With a phenomenal faculty, this three year paediatric
diplomate
programme is presented in Australia and New Zealand. The programme is a
combination of online and face-to-face
sessions, and successful graduates are awarded the Diplomate of the ICA Council on
Chiropractic Paediatrics (DICCP). The diplomate syllabus is a 250+ hour credit
course administered by the New
Zealand College of Chiropractic.
The ICA Council on Chiropractic
Paediatrics is one of the specialty councils of the International
Chiropractors' Association. It began in 1993 and was the first specialty
paediatric programme in chiropractic. Many others have since sprung up.
Palmer College is the only other chiropractic institution to have
previously hosted the programme.
Year 1
The
first year of the diplomate programme features normal and abnormal
considerations and conditions encountered during the spectrum of a
child’s growth from prenatal care through to adolescence. Gain expertise
in examination, referential diagnosis, evaluation, adjusting procedures
and correlative studies in patient management. Presenters
include Drs Sharon Vallone, Belinda Siddle, Lora Tanis, Marina Fox and Tracy Barnes. An examination at the end of this year
tests knowledge accumulated in Year 1.
Year 2
The
programme continues with paediatric research, neurology, personal
injury, sports injury, orthopaedics, biomechanics, and radiology.
Although there is no exam for this year, you will be required to write a
paper, (often a case study), although other research avenues are also
encouraged.
Year 3
The final year of the
programme focuses on myofascial technique, psychology, cranial sacral
technique, special needs children, and algorithms for common paediatric
conditions and unusual case presentations. The writing of another paper
and a paper presentation are also required. Bonus material is provided
on research writing and documentation. At the end of the third year you
will sit your final exams which will prepare you for the Diplomate exam.
Take
Your Understanding of Paediatrics to the Next Level
Once you
have completed the programme and are Board eligible, you can sit
