FAQs
1. What do I need to do to be accepted as a student?
The Bachelor of Chiropractic is a five year degree, with the first year being done at university studying basic science and the following four years spent here at the College. The first year is known as the ‘pre-requisite’ year and you must have passed this year in order to gain entry into the following four year degree programme.
You must also submit an application form along with the supporting required documentation, and attend a successful entry interview.
2. Do you help with finding student accommodation?
The College does not have on-campus student accommodation available but is very active in helping students to find accommodation. Most students tend to share a house together and many of these are within walking distance of the College. The New Zealand Chiropractic Students Association also has a Facebook page - NZCSA Chiro Trade - where students advertise flats available.
3. Can I get a student loan to cover my fees?
All NZ citizens are eligible for full Studylink loans to cover their tuition fees each year. They may also be eligible for the student allowance while they are studying with us.
Australian citizens are eligible for Studylink loans/allowances after living in NZ for two years continuously. Australian students are also able to pay their fees in quarterly instalments – ie – two payments each Semester.
4. Do you offer scholarships?
We do not have any full scholarships on offer at present; however there are various partial grants towards tuition fees available on a competitive basis once you are in our programme.
5. Can you tell me about the application process?
Complete the application form and submit this to the Admissions Office along with all of the supporting documentation. Once this is received, the College will contact you to schedule a one-on-one interview with a chiropractor, either in your area or via telephone/Skype directly with the College.
Approximately one week after this interview, you will be notified of the outcome and all going well, will be accepted into the programme subject to completing any outstanding pre-requisite study.
You can apply for entry, go through this application process, and be accepted into the programme even before you start studying your year of basic science – in fact, this is what most students do.
