You will need approximately NZ$12,000 per year for general living costs, including accommodation.

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

Halls of Residence
There is no on-site accommodation at the College, however there is a large range of accommodation options in close proximity. All accommodation listed below has been inspected by a representative from the College.

Flatting (Renting)
This is a very common form of student accommodation in New Zealand. Flats range from fully-furnished apartments to houses (flats) that students share with a group of others. A large percentage of our current students live in these flats. Flats, often the cheapest option, are advertised mainly on TradeMe (www.trademe.co.nz) or in the main daily newspaper, The New Zealand Herald (www.nzherald.co.nz). There are always rooms in flats advertised on the Student Noticeboard.

You will be required to sign a tenancy agreement and share the cost of electricity, phone and food. If you are coming to New Zealand as a single person, there is often the possibility to move in with an existing group. Check The New Zealand Herald or TradeMe website for flats that need another flatmate. This is often a great way to meet other New Zealanders. 

The average price for a room in a flat in the Mt Wellington or Ellerslie area is NZ$100 –150 per week (does not include expenses or food).

Homestay
The College has a very strict procedure for the selection and monitoring of homestay carers and homestay residences. Generally the College would like to place students with fellow chiropractors living and working in Central Auckland. Upon request for the College to organise a homestay, the student will be required to fill out appropriate documentation and a suitable homestay will be found.

The student must agree to abide by all the house rules of the homestay family and if there is a problem, to notify the Student Liaison person at the College immediately.

Homestay price is NZ$190.00 per week (includes all expenses and food).

Situated within walking distance to the New Zealand College of Chiropractic are the following 2 motels. These vary in pricing and the quality of service. They have been inspected by the College and are adequate for short term stays. Short term stays are generally more expensive in terms of accommodation in Auckland but a good way to find your “feet” in Auckland.
