What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is about helping the body to work at its best. Your nervous system, which controls all the functions of your body, is protected by your spine. Sometimes the stresses and strains of daily life cause nerve messages from the brain to get blocked. By making small adjustments to the spine, chiropractors can remove these blockages so that the messages reach the organs effectively.
The philosophy is simple: if your nervous system is working properly the body is better able to heal itself and perform at its full potential. A healthy spine and nervous system can help anyone at any time in their life, regardless of age, condition, presence or symptoms.

What is a chiropractor?Chiropractors are primary healthcare professionals who are trained to find and to correct abnormal spinal movement and position. An abnormal spinal position is called a vertebral subluxation – it’s the ‘blockage’ that prevent messages from the brain from reaching the body’s organs properly. After a careful examination, chiropractors remove these subluxations by applying controlled, direct pressure to the spine. This is called an adjustment. The goal is to reduce muscle tension, improve joint mobility and minimise interference to nerve messages.
Chiropractors don’t use drugs or surgery, which makes chiropractic a
safe and natural healthcare option for newborn babies through to elderly
people. Chiropractic also isn’t a treatment for a specific condition –
it’s a method of improving nerve communication - which helps the body to
heal itself and work at its best.
Because chiropractic is all about
wellness, many chiropractors advise on nutrition, exercise and lifestyle
choices as well.
Why choose chiropractic? With more and more people looking for a natural approach to healthcare, chiropractic is the fastest growing wellness profession in the world. It’s now the third largest primary healthcare profession in the west after medicine and dentistry, and is legally recognised in over 45 countries.
